Introducing SurfStats
Statistical
reporting of web sites is now faster, easier and more
comprehensive than ever before with SurfStats Log File Analyzer by SurfStats
SurfStats is a fast, powerful and easy web log file
analyzer designed for novice and experienced users. It
retrieves the files containing detail web site activity from the web
host's server server and generates site activity reports. This
eliminates the need to fill in the on-line statistics request forms
and waiting for the statistics to generated on the web host's server
or the technicalities of downloading, extracting and analyzing log files.
Analyzing your web site activity
is an essential task in creating a great web site. Analyzing your web
traffic can tell you:
-
How many people are visiting your
Web site,
- Which pages are the most popular,
- Which files are the most downloaded,
- Which files are not accessed
at all,
- If changes to your WebPages
or Internet advertising is paying off,
- What time of day your site is
the quietest and when you should perform web site changes,
- Which file requests were unauthorized,
- Which errors occurred,
- Which files or links created
the errors, etc.
Armed with this information, you
can make changes to improve traffic to your site. You can now analyze
the traffic on your web site quickly and easily with SurfStats Web
Log Analyzer.
The Web Host's server generates a
"log file" that documents activity from users that visits
your site. The log files usually reside in a compressed format in a
log file directory on your web site. These files can include the following:
-
The visitor’s domain name or
IP address;
- The date and time of the visit;
- The pages they viewed;
- The files and their sizes
that were downloaded;
- How visitors came to your site;
- Errors that were encountered, etc.
You can usually access statistics
on your web site by:
1. Using online statistics
program and requesting statistics for a time period or by
2. downloading the log
files, uncompressing it and analyzing the raw log files.
Both these methods are time
consuming and have other drawbacks. Generating statistics reports
with SurfStats is now as easy as:
1. Specifying the
Domain Name, Login Name and Password of your web site;
2. Logging on to
the Internet and clicking on SurfStats Report button;
SurfStats
then:
-
Logs into your log file directory;
- Retrieves the files that
contains the detail statistics;
- Verifies that the files were
downloaded correctly and then deletes it from the We Host's server;
- Logs into the Web Host’s
News directory and downloads their newsletter
- Uncompresses (if required)
the log files;
- Generates and displayes the
html reports that contains tables and graphs of the statistics. This
report contains sub reports (and the news) which is accessed through
hyperlinks in a frame on the left. The complete report can be printed
or sub reports can be individually printed.
